Underwriting Assistant - 8 month contract

Job Summary:  The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting Underwriters in the processing and issuing of all types of documents (New Business, Renewals, Endorsements and Invoices) while maintaining a high level of accuracy within department service standards. The candidates will also deal with the daily, email, filing and data management,  mail, faxes as well as provide back up support to reception and office maintenance. This is a progressive position with room for advancement to underwriting.  Obtaining product knowledge will be encouraged.



  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience preferred.
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • CIP or working towards would be an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Analytical and judgment skills required.
  • Ability to multitask and assess workflow priority.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Competent to advanced typing skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products, (Word & Excel)
  • Highly organized to manage workflow efficiently
  • Comfortable working within deadlines.
